EU AI Act & Responsible AI

The EU AI Act became law in August 2024. Some obligations for AI systems used in employment and recruiting contexts are expected to apply gradually over the coming years. Most of its key obligations, including those related to potentially high-risk AI systems, will not apply until August 2, 2026.

CometHire is designed with these evolving regulatory requirements in mind. We closely follow developments around the EU AI Act and continuously assess how they apply to our product and responsibilities as an AI software provider.

In the meantime, we are building our systems with care and transparency. We are backed up with legal experts in our network which guide us and consult us with all regulations for the EU AI Act and and GDPR.

Even as regulatory guidance around the EU AI Act continues to evolve, CometHire is being developed with key AI governance principles in mind from the beginning.

Human Oversight

CometHire is designed to support human decision-making — not replace it. Recruiters define evaluation criteria, review AI-supported outputs, and make all final hiring decisions themselves.

Transparency & Explainability

We aim to make AI-supported evaluations understandable and traceable. AI-supported assessments are linked to relevant evidence from applications to help users better understand how outputs were generated.

Privacy & Data Governance

CometHire is built with GDPR-conscious data processing practices, including data minimization, temporary data retention and the prioritization of EU-based infrastructure and AI providers.

Fairness & Non-Discrimination

Our goal is to support more structured and less bias-prone evaluation processes. Discriminatory evaluation criteria are not permitted under our platform terms and anonymization features are designed to reduce the influence of irrelevant personal information during screening.

Technical Robustness & Security

We continuously work on maintaining secure and reliable processing workflows, including logging, access controls and monitoring of system performance.

Responsible Use of AI

CometHire is designed as a decision-support tool, not an autonomous hiring system. We intentionally avoid fully automated hiring decisions and focus on building practical AI features that support responsible and transparent recruiting workflows.
